A fine 14-day movement with tourbillon release a second movement every 24 hours, which drives the planetarium and the perpetual calendar.
This combination was chosen so that the planetarium is always connected to the calendar and thus always indicates the current state of the date.
The movement is thus taken no force. The orbits of the 8 planets plus Pluto are driven by 30 fine gears. The planets are indicated by colored gems. The duration of a lunar phase period on the clock is 29 days, 12 hours and 45 minutes. This is a minimal deviation from the real lunar cycle of 58 seconds per moon phase.
